Frits Byron Soepyan

Frits Byron Soepyan, PhD is a chemical engineer with more than 15 years of experience in energy research, process modeling, and software development. He is currently a research and science associate at the CO2 Coalition. Previously, he was a process systems engineer at AristoSys, LLC, where he contributed to projects on emission reduction, decarbonization, hydrogen production, and proposal reviews, and a postdoctoral research associate at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), where his work spanned direct power extraction, carbon capture, and improvements to FOQUS (Framework for Optimization, Quantification of Uncertainty, and Surrogates), NETL's open-source modeling software. As a doctoral student, he partnered with Chevron to develop TUSTORM (Tulsa University Sand Transport – Optimization and Ranking Methodology), a program for managing sand transport in pipelines that Chevron has used in major capital projects. Soepyan holds a PhD in chemical engineering (2015) and bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering and mathematics (2009) from The University of Tulsa.
